Poker Challenge #2 – 100x $1.50 SNG 6 Hyper

100 Games Of .50 SNG 6 Hyper

I have just completed my second challenge, playing 100x $1.50 SNG 6 Hyper at Pokerstars, I have started this challenge the very same day as my poker challenge #1 but it took 3 “play-days” longer (17 days total, I skipped around 10 days not playing any SNG6er), I didn’t play this format every day because I did like playing Heads Up slightly better, so I would guess that my average time spent playing those SNG tournaments was about 30 minutes a day.

Here is the format: Buy-In: $1.40/$0.10 USD, 6 players starting with 500 chips each and the clock ticks and blinds/ante increase in hyper mode (very fast). Total Prize Pool: $8.40, the winner takes $5.46 and second gets $2.94, nothing for the rest, not even a pack of tissues for the bubble-boy, it is painful to get out in 3rd that’s why I am trying to “go for the win” right of the bat and prefer taking an even coinflip during the early stages rather then be the low stack and get blinded out in 3rd position where I am forced to play hands like 3-9 offsuit (ace-x, KQ suited and 6-6 or better are all-in hands for me preflop during the first few minutes – I hope my opponents don’t read this lol), basically double up or die and then make small pushes at the blinds when you are the big stack or stack #2.

It mostly is a coinflip/crapshoot format but that’s not all there is to it, there is some (rather simple) strategy behind it, later more…

Result: 18 Wins, 20 Second Place, 11x Third Place, 16x Fourth Place,16x Fifth Place, 19x Sixth Place

I paid $150 including the rake (10 cents each) which is slightly higher than in my HU challenge and won $58.80 for my first places and $98.28 for second places which gives me a total of $157.08 in price money, which leaves me with exactly $7.08 profit for this challenge (WooHoo! My 2nd Challenge is a Winner as well even though just marginal and certainly again a terrible hourly rate, but still I am satisfied). I actually made a mistake in my first calculation (I use find and replace in notepad), which gave me a profit of $60 after just about 70 games but it showed as 100 completed already lol, to be honest I didn’t bring my B-Game anymore (still working on building a real A-Game) after realizing I would have to play more of those and that my calculations were that much off…

I might take a shot at the $3.30 6 Max. SNG Hyper format that Pokerstars is offering too, this will likely be one of my next challenges.

As usual, here is the raw data, need to clean this up some other time:

$150
20x $2.94 = $58.80
18x $5.46 = $98.28

Total= $157.08 – $150 = $7.08 Profit
